About this deal

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over should take one to two 5ml spoonfuls four times a day, 20 minutes to one hour after meals and at bedtime, as needed to relieve symptoms. Hypermagnesemia, including observations after prolonged administration to patients with renal impairment. Indigestion and heartburn can sometimes be symptoms of more serious conditions such as stomach ulcers or stomach cancer. For this reason, you should consult your doctor if any of the following apply to you: Not known: hypersensitivity reactions, such as pruritus, urticaria, angioedema and anaphylactic reactions

Aluminium hydroxide is not well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and systemic effects are therefore rare in patients with normal renal function. However, excessive doses or long-term use, or even normal doses in patients with low-phosphorus diets may lead to phosphate depletion (due to aluminium-phosphate binding) accompanied by increased bone resorption and hypercalciuria with the risk of osteomalacia. Medical advice is recommended in case of long-term use or in patients at risk of phosphate depletion. Maalox plus tablets contain glucose, sucrose and sorbitol and should not be taken by people with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency. Maalox plus is used to relieve the symptoms of heartburn, indigestion (upset stomach with stomach pain and burning, nausea and excess gas, sometimes called dyspepsia) and excess gas in the stomach and intestines (flatulence or wind). You have a red and lumpy skin rash, swollen eyelids, face, lips, mouth or tongue, itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing. This could be an allergic reaction. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or are taking any other medicines before taking Maalox plusIn patients with renal impairment, plasma levels of both aluminium and magnesium increase. In these patients, a long-term exposure to high doses of aluminium and magnesium salts may lead to dementia, microcytic anemia.

Very rare: Hypermagnesemia, including observations after prolonged administration of magnesium hydroxide to patients with renal impairment Children aged 5 to 12 years should be given one 5ml spoonful three to four times a day, 20 minutes to one hour after meals and at bedtime, as needed to relieve symptoms. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are both medicines called antacids. They are used to reduce the acidity of the stomach's juices.Equivalent of Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel 230 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide 200mg and Simeticone 25 mg in each 5 ml. If your doctor has prescribed this medicine you should follow the instructions given by your doctor.

Some medicines may be affected by magnesium hydroxide or they may affect how well magnesium hydroxide will work. Aluminium hydroxide may cause constipation and magnesium salts overdose may cause hypomotility of the bowel; large doses of this product may trigger or aggravate intestinal obstruction and ileus in patients at higher risk such as those with renal impairment, or the elderly.

Hypophosphatemia, this may occur at high doses of the product or even at normal doses especially in patients with low phosphorus diets

This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. It may also help with colic in babies, although there's not much scientific evidence that simeticone really works for this. Give your child a maximum of one 5ml spoonful 3 to 4 times each day 20 minutes to an hour before meals and at bedtime. Alternatively as directed by your doctor. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines. This includes medicines you can buy without prescription, including herbal medicines. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any of the medicines listed below, as some medicines may be affected by Maalox Plus or they may affect how well Maalox Plus will work. In particular:Medicines used to treat some allergic, inflammatory or abnormal immune reactions such as glucocorticoids Simeticone is a mixture of silica gel and dimeticone (or dimethicone), a type of silicone, and is also known as activated dimeticone. It works by bringing together the small gas bubbles in your gut to form bigger bubbles, allowing trapped air to pass through your body more easily. If your symptoms don't go away or get worse despite taking this medicine you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. Medicines used to treat stomach ulcers and acidity such as ranitidine or cimetidine (H 2 antagonists) Antacids such as aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide can reduce the absorption of many other medicines from the gut, which may make the other medicines less effective. If you are taking any other medicines, get advice from your pharmacist before taking this antacid. Antacids should preferably not be taken at the same time of day as any other medicines. In general, any interactions can be avoided if you do not take this antacid in the two hours before and after taking any other medicine.
