About this deal

Compatible with: any mobile through built-in smartphone clamp & any devices with tripod mount including ProGrip Many companies have been tried to elevate the smartphone camera user experience with various grip add-ons. To be honest, nobody has nailed it yet. I was recently offered a chance to try the new ShiftCam ProGrip. Could the ShiftCam ProGrip be the accessory that finally takes smartphone photography up a level? Let’s find out. As someone who much prefers shooting with a full-sized DSLR than a smartphone, is the ShiftCam ProGrip good enough to tempt me to leave my camera at home? No, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a very decent product. Shooting with the ShiftCam ProGrip It’s also worth noting that ShiftCam sells a range of complementary accessories, such as mountable lenses and fill lights, which could be worth considering if you’re serious about smartphone photography or videography. And it can be mounted on a tripod itself. ShiftCam ProGrip review verdict

The build quality of the SnapLight matches the SnapGrip. The hinge used is easy to manipulate but does come at the cost of not staying in place if there’s a lot of vibration or motion happening while it’s extended. There are a couple of notches that keep it in place in the closed position. SnapPod One other issue with my review sample is that the built-in ball head cannot tightly hold the weight of a phone and other SnapGrip accessories. ShiftCam stated that this would be fixed in production models and is caused by smooth paint applied to the ball head. The company plans to have the ball head textured with no paint in the production models. These lenses are guaranteed to be distortion free with incredibly sharp details. They’re designed to enhance the features already contained in your phone such as optical stabilization and low light functionality. ShiftCam is a proven winner and there’s no reason to expect them to stop winning any time soon. Mobile photography and filmmaking with ShiftCam is a breeze – the ecosystem is well thought out, cleverly designed, and produced with quality materials. While ShiftCam isn’t frequently mentioned in the same breath as Moment, Sandmarc, and BeastGrip they may be soon enough. The MultiLens case protects your phone from damage due to dropping and gives you multiple lenses to choose from, without having to dig through your gear bag and attach them to your iPhone.Even phone dimension of iPhone X and XS are same, but the rear camera module and distance between primary camera and secondary camera are NOT same. If you still find wireless charging pretty uncanny in itself, the ProGrip will amaze you even further. You have to align your phone’s charging pad with its counterpart on the ProGrip and there are instructions and an alignment template for this – though our iPhone 13 Pro Max is so large that it doesn’t really offer any scope for movement; the pads nevertheless line up fine. Shiftcam does recommend using the ProLens lineup in combination with the mobile app Filmic Pro or the desktop software Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro for the best results.

To make the lenses accessible for all iPhone shooters, ShiftCam has created two different types of lens mounts. There is a phone-specific lens mount that comes can fit the iPhone 11 up to the iPhone 13 series or you can invest in a universal lens mount that slides over the top of your phone. The ShiftCam ProGrip can accommodate even a large phone like the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which is also in a clear case here. (Image credit: Rod Lawton/Digital Camera World) The lenses can either be bought individually or in bundles as listed above which means you really only have to spend money on the lenses you're going to find useful. The lens mount adapter sits snuggly under most phone cases so you don't need to invest in an additional case if you don't want to (although ShiftCam does make quite a smart-looking case if you did want to buy one). The lenses can also be used alongside ShiftCam's latest product, the Pro Grip which adds a grip to your phone that makes it feel more like a DSLR.

No. They are uniquely designed for specific iPhone models and are notinterchangeable. (Unless stated otherwise)

Battery life has increasingly become less of a problem with iPhones, although it's always nice when you add some juice on the fly.B&H – B&H is a world renowned supplier of all the gear photographers, videographers, and cinematographers need and want to create their very best work.

These buttons are visible when the phone is rotated into a vertical position. The top one is for resetting the Bluetooth connection (for the shutter release) and the lower on activates wireless charging. (Image credit: Rod Lawton/Digital Camera World) These lenses are lightweight and easy to transport. Depending on which ProLens you choose, it will weigh between 33 and 80 grams. They’re made from high-quality aluminum and DSLR-grade glass. The lenses are also nano-coated to ensure a scratch-resistant surface. As you tell by its stars rating in this review, there's little I don't like about the ShiftCam ProGrip. One criticism I have is being unable to store both the ShiftCam ProGrip and iPhone in the included case. Because the accessory works with different-sized smartphones, this limitation makes sense from an engineering perspective, although it's still a disappointment. If you want to use the grip with a tripod you can do that as well thanks to the tripod mount in the bottom of the grip. This will come in handy when you’re creating long exposures or videos. At our core, we are driven by a need to improve the lives of our customers. Our craftsmanship is the result of tireless research, where we push the boundaries of innovation to bring you the best mobile camera accessories possible. My observation however is that while the design of the grip gives a feel like handling a DSLR, it would have been nice if the shutter button also had a half-stop press feature for focusing before firing away and it could also have benefitted in providing cases for other flagship smartphones that have great cameras. When it comes to smartphone photography, the biggest brands in the industry gained their popularity for a reason. However, if you’re looking for something new to try, look no further than Shiftcam. It comes into its own in low-light settings where you might normally introduce camera-shake. The M31 doesn’t have the best of cameras and has no optical stabilisation, so taking indoor shots like this in poor light would normally be a recipe for blur, but it’s much easier to keep your hand steady with the ProGrip.
