About this deal

Other than the disconnect from the continued character building I have a few *face palm* points that I need to mention👇🏼👇🏼

Marcus, Ryland, and Theo are the H. They are very wealthy, but we never hear about them actually working. They live in a huge mansion, have nice clothes, and garage filled with expensive cars, etc. For the majority of the book I thought it was going to be a pnr. Don’t ask why, I don’t know! Maybe it was the ethereal feel to her dreams or her “connections” with the guys? I was expecting vampire or shifters at the end…so don’t be like me. It has zero pnr action. It's a RH, but there are only a couple steamy scenes and those are with one guy.to conclude, ryland. nothing to say about him. joking. he was the less developed but i can already say he will be the one i will less care. he is that rude type of reverse harem guy that clearly doesn't know how to deal with his feelings so shows hate to the main character. (i kinda hate that) It's taken me way too long to finish this series because rather than wanting it to end, I've kept putting this off and re-read the first two lol.

Callie Rose is a bestselling romance author who has made a name for herself writing some explosive romance. Her novels are known for having redemption stories, strong FMCs, tortured bad boys and twisty plots. Theo is definitely on the list of forever favorites. He was amazing. Marcus and Ryland were solid as well and I thought they made a really solid brotherhood. I can't help but feel Ryland didn't get as much time with Ayla, but it reflects a little on his personality type and so it's not totally unbalanced. There clearly was equal love between all of them. I know this was only the first book of a trilogy, and I am sure they will get their well-deserved happy end based on respect and love by book three. But I'm not sure I can go through all the journey and would rather jump directly to the happy ever after. eu estou escrevendo isso aqui sem nem saber porque eu dei estrelas. eu devo ter gostado de algo, mas nem lembro mais por motivos de ✨esse livro é totalmente ESQUECÍVEL✨ (depois de um tempo lembrei: literalmente a última cena do livro tem um super plot twist que eu fiquei OMGGGGGGG, but that was it)

Callie Rose’s novel “The Lie” is an enjoyable novel that follows on from the events of the first novel of the “Kings of Linwood Academy” series of novels. Before I go on, please note there are spoilers so if you don’t want to know what happens, do not read any further. ** I’m not writing this review to discourage anyone from reading this book because, let’s face it, if you’ve read the first two and don’t read the third.. you’re a monster. This review is honestly kind of me trying to sort out how/why I feel disappointed in the conclusion of this series. Also, maybe if I temper your expectations a little.. the book will turn out really great for you.

I'm so sad this was only a three-part series but what a glorious and satisfying wrap up. I loved Ayla's character as she was tough, resilient, and didn't have much to be happy about, but wasn't jaded, and full of belligerent anger and attitude. I looovvveeeed how the relationship developed with the guys as well. I've been in a reverse harem binge lately and I can say that most of the other books I've read haven't held much substance in terms of plot, side characters and the main characters. I will skim the end to just see what happens, but honestly I just don't care about these characters anymore. For having romance in this RH, I felt no romantic connection with Ayla with the other two guys besides Marcus, since she rarely hung out with the other two guys.

Publication Order of Standalone Novels

She always has so many stories swirling in her head and she has said that it feels incredible sharing those stories with others. However, unlike many authors, she never did have that one light bulb moment when she decided to become an author. This book is good and dark. But I guess it gotta be dark when the three love interests are genuine stalkers. Callie Rose is definitely one of my favorite RH authors. I love her writing style as it's always polished and so smooth to read. She does a great job of creating a solid and interesting plot, but also blends the relationship building aspect between the characters throughout the story without it just being about sex. There's a decent amount of steam, but you know it's more about love than just lust. I really appreciate that. The twenty six year old author wrote “Savage Royals” her debut novel and first of the “Boys of Oak Park Prep” series in 2019. Since then, she has become a prolific author with more than twenty three novels across more than seven series. This was full of sexual tension, sexy times, and the personality of the three different men spark in this one.

I also really appreciated the way Ayla's relationship with Theo and Ryland was especially developed in this book so that I could actually understand why she liked these guys. Even if the guys aren't together within the reverse harem, I still like it to be clear that they like each other and it's super clear that Marcus, Theo, and Ryland all have a really deep bond. I appreciated how much emotion the guys showed. I think sometimes authors of darker, bad-boy romances shy away from that but I think a show of emotion that isn't anger in front of the heroine is a great way to show trust and that the relationship is deepening. You might think, "Kaity why did you still read the book if you know you didn't like it" and to that I tell you, "I like to torture myself if it isn't obvious". But then they are all brought close together when they witness a tragic event together. They now have to work together to uncover a bizarre mystery even as they protect themselves. Still, she does say that the longer she has been writing the better she gets as she feels like she channels her character that she feels like she is in a movie watching them. And the poor girl deserves a break. She makes me want to bang my head against a wall and I just want her to run far, far, far away from her stalkers. She saved Marcus Constantine's life but she didn't deserve his obsession, his love, and his darkness. She didn't deserve to be stalked for two years as a reward and she certainly didn't deserve to fall in love with her stalkers.

men watch from the shadows. Watch her every move. One obsessed, one falling and one fighting for control - Marcus, Theo and Ryland. They watch. They wait. Finally they have to step out of the darkness and face the light. Face her. Ayla. The one who is so embedded in their heart and minds. o romance foi completamente deixado de lado para focar na parte do jogo/ da guerra que eu comentei na primeira review (aquela parte de jogos vorazes). agora a ayla faz parte da guerra, porque saiu querendo matar o povo lá. ô mulher burra. Marcus, Ryland (love his name so much), and Theo are our H’s. Marcus is top dog, a bit obsessive, and has the prettiest eyes ever. Ryland is hard and closed off and Theo is our pretty boy that balances them out. Still, she also believes in the importance of having tribes who can help you on the journey. In her case, she found a lot of support from her writer friends who built her up when she was being torn down by vicious critics of her work.
