The author does touch on the story of Snow White but keeps rest of the story told from the POV of the wicked stepmother. I will say I liked the twisted ending where Snow White receives the same mirror with her step-mother inside of it.It's deep Disney lore that she was at one point assigned the name Grimhilde, and I don't see why that name, or literally any other, wasn't used here. Again, I like that this book focuses more on the villain in Snow White but I wish there was a bit more then just the Queen having a depressing life, dying and then Snow White (of course) getting married by a man. I mean, coddling Snow still irritated me, but that's a personal vendetta, so I can't complain overmuch) The emotional abuse of the Queen's father as a justification for her insecurity was handled beautifully. This is meant to be a humanizing back story for the Wicked Queen from Disney's Snow White, apparently in continuity with the film.

Not a fan of the original novel series but I am definitely keen to check out all their graphic novel adaptations. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. She is also the author of Evil Thing: A Villains Graphic Novel and the standalone novel Raising the Horseman. While I'm not sure if it's supposed to be "cannon," I do find it fascinating that Valentino has given the Stepmother a backstory and a reason for being as cruel as she was.

Part of it was from the art style, I didn't really enjoy it and it often made the speech bubbles seem to be in the wrong spot. An interesting look at the possible backstory of Snow White’s stepmother, to see her from a different perspective.
