The model I received did not have such a throttle cable but simply the 'on/off' connection attached to the Operator Presence lever. It's quite sizable but not unwieldly, and being powered, once you get used to working the clutch it moves along at a good pace. As our lawns are not laid yet, so I used the Mulching to flatten off the rough growth and then the collector afterwards - worked perfectly!The battery will need to be charged before first use and under normal conditions, once every 2 months during the grass cutting season. I managed to catch the hose connector nozzle on something as I was mowing and it cracked and eventually came off. I bought the lawn mower in June 2022 and had only used it three times before the self propel mechanism stopped working.
BUT for our large lawn (just over half an acre, with lots of twiddly bits) it moves forward far too slowly. I notice that the starter motor switch is mounted horizontally and therefore can collect dirt and dust while mowing. On first assembly, it was impossible to pour from a full bottle of engine oil into the engine filler tube without spilling because of the arrangement of the other components and so my brand new mower received a protective layer of engine oil on the out side as well as inside the engine.We chose this lawnmower as we needed one that was self propelled, powerful and had both collection and mulching options.
Having eventually got it assembled and queried the throttle absence with the supplier, I then found it impossible to start with the pull cord, but the electric starter does work - 2 or 3 times before the charge runs out, so you need to stop cutting for a few hours while you recharge it and then you can start again. The HYM530SPER features an electronic CDI ignition system and an easy push-button electric start as well as recoil backup for effortless starting each and every time you start your mower. I've been using an old Honda lawnmower that was left at my house when I brought it and I always hated cutting the grass.
The only foible I've found is that the electric start takes a little time when warm - but manual pull start works fine. To me, the covering of the drive system is the failure because if it were much more inaccessible to the grass clippings then it'd work a treat. I would recommend this as a good value mower for medium sized lawns but I will definitely be going for something quicker next time. It has a modern, quiet, high torque 4-stroke Hyundai petrol engine with multi-adjustable cutting height, push-button, every time starting. With a choice of grass discharge options (side, rear, collect or mulch), the machine comes with a huge 70 litre, quick-release grass collector as standard, so you spend more time mowing, less emptying!
If you are having the goods delivered outside the EU, then UK VAT does not apply – this also applies if we have onward shipment proof of the goods leaving the EU. this one (though more powerful) travels at well below 3 kph so takes an extra hour to an hour and a half to cut the grass. font>
