About this deal

This makes this type of finishing product an excellent choice for pieces of furniture that might be exposed to moisture. Apply Liberon Fine Wood Stripper onto the surface and wait for around 15 to 20 minutes until the finish starts to react and bubble.

A smooth white tinted paste wax, formulated to produce a white grained finish in open grained timbers. Ensure surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from dirt, dust and other surface contaminants prior to application of Liming Wax.

When you use liming wax, your wooden pieces will stand out with a shine and an attractive, whitened grain pattern. This is usually seen on floors or furniture where the grain is opened using a liming brush and filled with Liming wax or paste which lightens the grain. Please use only one image, do not crop the credit on the bottom and provide a link back to the original post. Applying liming wax requires a bit of preparation and a careful process, but the resulting vintage look makes the effort worthwhile.

Remove the excess white haze using a cloth and then finish with a clear wax for a quality smooth finish. It’s essential to wipe off the surplus product with a clean, damp cloth, ensuring a consistent finish. Limewash is one of the oldest paints in history used as far back as 3000 BC in ancient Egyptian times. Once the grain has been opened using the wire brush, Work the Liberon liming wax into the grain of the wood with fine Steel Wool (0000) or a buffing cloth. This is going to take a little bit of work because the wood is very dry, so I have to really push the brush and the bristles in to all the grain, all the three-dimensional parts.Stripping is much- MUCH easier with Jasco Stripper; water based; (paint and stain can literally fall off your project); and which I have used on/off for 39 years. To prepare the wood for a whitewash Liming effect, you need to first make sure the surface is clean and has no previous finish by using wood stripper and steel wire wool to remove this (Liming works best on bare wood). I remembered I had half a container of Citristrip furniture stripper and some liming wax in the garage leftover from our wine cooler project. The gentle finishing wax is created from a blend of beeswax, carnauba wax, and shellac wax, and it creates a lasting and lustrous shine.

Once dry, Fiddes Liming Wax must be finished with a coat of Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish, using the 'clear' option to retain the limed look. On application, Fiddes Liming Wax fills the open wood pores, offering contrasting white tone and emphasizing the grain across the whole surface area, typical of a traditional ‘Limed’ finish. This is often seen on traditional period oak furniture along with other hard woods as long as they have an open grain. Remove the white haze using a cloth and Neutral Black Bison Paste Wax, or if a water-resistant finish is required, with Liberon Finishing Oil.For an even better result use the Liming Brush first to open up the grain, allowing more Liming Wax to enter; spread the Liming Wax over the whole surface and then wipe off after a few minutes.
