This makes Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball a very satisfying, funny and curious opening title to a wonderful series. Of course Amelia's friend wanted to beat Tangine to death before accepting him but let's not talk about that. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. Grimaldi the reaper and spoilt Prince Tangine, as well as terrifyingly glittery unicorns, angel-kittens and fairies galore. Parental figures were ridiculed, undermined as authority and most importantly refused to help Amelia when she was in a state of need. Amelia Fang likes hugs from her pet pumpkin Squashy, and playing with her friends Florence and Grimaldi. If you like Goth Girl (Chris Riddell), Araminta Spookie (Angie Sage) and Stitch Head (Guy Bass), you will enjoy Amelia Fang, even though she's not bringing anything new to the genre. The introductory pages showing the map of Nocturnia and drawings of all the characters with their likes and dislikes is brilliant!

The royal pair haven't been seen in public since the sad demise of the Queen, who was rumoured to have been eaten by a fairy.
