About this deal

I believe designer Maria Bjørnson glanced at the photo photo of Meryl Streep in “The French Lieutenant’s Wife” when designing the cloak. She wears it when at the Manager’s office when learning the Phantom wants her to play the lead in his opera, and she wears it to the graveyard when visiting her father’s grave. Both romantic and scary, The Phantom of the Opera is a thrilling night of theater with grand emotions. Please follow my tutorial for Ariel's Kiss The Girl costume for corset instructions, as I forgot to take pictures when making this dress.

Slaves could be the most beloved girlfriend, the family’s accountant, the head masters of schools, the best chef in town, the most sought after doctor, the superstar gladiator.

And/or perhaps that is how I feel about playing Christine…my not-so-sassy/sensual faces in these pictures indicate that I wasn’t in character yet…). Christine Daae has a lot of chic dresses ; in the most famous productions, her costumes were designed by Maria Bjornson for the stage and Alexandra Byrne for the movies. The dress was beautifully made but there was some stuff on the dress around my arms and the buttons for the cape that didn’t quite work out as well as I’d like but otherwise it was beautiful. In addition they wear flesh coloured tights, velvet panties, gold tiaras, gold wristbands, and pointe shoes. com, the Sell on Etsy app, and the Etsy app, as well as the electricity that powers Etsy’s global offices and employees working remotely from home in the US.

Her dress softly fades from pink to blue and has lots of star details, off-shoulder ruffle sleeves, a shorter hem, and a crown. This dressing gown is worn during the show's most memorable moments: "The Mirror," "The Phantom of the Opera," "Music of the Night," and the first unmasking. It has a fairly fitted bodice and a trained skirt, and elbow long sleeves with engageants (lace hanging down from the elbows). Again the red, green and gold shades are kept, and again the design shows how Victorians would envision a historical style rather than showing actual historical style. She tries to tell Raoul about the Phantom and her growing fear, and he tries to comfort her with his love.We had both wanted to do this costume in the years past but were too busy for it, but this year we were able to start months early. Had there been some context for the costume design in the film, it could have worked; it's a beautiful costume. The actual skirt is somewhere between ankle and knee length, built up by several layers of flounces. I decided for Halloween this year to go as christine Daae and wanted to recreate her iconic robe look. When closed it still shows a bit of the collar of the Slavegirl costume underneath, but the gold wristbands and the tiara is removed.

I have a soft spot for the stage version, but the movie costume grows on me more every time I see it. Through the years the gowns worn by Christine Daae have been subject to many interpretations, leaving you to let your imagination drift as you create your own version of Christine Daae. I love sharing these types of videos ‘cause you get to see all the parts of costumes — sometimes the undergarments take more time to make than the visible part! It has several Rococo elements, including the bell silhouette, the Pierrot jacket/bodice closing over a stomacher, and the engageant sleeves and the little apron. The bodice is fitted and can be accented by a wide brimmed feathered hat or a small pill hat with a veil.

I was able to get it altered, and Emily was so helpful in providing a partial refund to cover the alteration costs! The late Maria Björnson won Tony Awards for both the scenic AND costume design of The Phantom of the Opera and it’s not hard to see why. I love the movie costumes the best cuz they scream "creative" and they also catch the idea of the true story. The movie doesn't have the limitations of real-time and a live audience, so its version is completely different. I think the movie definitely had better costumes, if nothing else because they weren't stuck in the 1980s.

In the stage show, there are diagonal ruffles on the skirt, and there's an overlay draped at an angle in the movie. The decorations on the bodice - the gold collar and the “crotch tiara” are strangely sexual, covering the erotic zones of the girls.

She is naturally a dirty blonde though so we knew we would have to dye her hair once it was closer to Halloween. The addition of the cape and the “Little Lotte” red scarf really help me get into the yearning, mourning, emotional place of “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again. They can be obtained from the internet, but I made our own, using a piece of wood and 2 metal prongs. Christine Daae is a fictional character and the protagonist of Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera and various film adaptations, including the most popular musical, released in 2004.
