About this deal

It's amazing how Alex Scott has achieved all that she has from one of the Lionesses greatest ever players to a great, versatile broadcaster. The Voice Newspaper is committed to celebrating black excellence, campaigning for positive change and informing the black community on important issues.

About a teen who needed a different kind of support in school that she eventually found while pursuing her degree at university. When she finally allows herself to take a moment and appreciate all she has achieved in the closing pages of the book, it feels more than deserved. In her debut book, Alex outlines the inspirational pillars of strength which have helped her to thrive: finding your voice, knowing when to ask for help, letting guilt go, embracing uncertainty and celebrating your wins. She always showed great leadership qualities and has gone on to show how much you can achieve by working hard for what you want and believe in. The later chapters on guilt and softness hit home for me - but the letter to her Mum was difficult reading for some reason.Such a powerful and raw story, honestly told -- Wes Streeting MP --This text refers to the hardcover edition. Alex Scott has become a household name, but I feel very little was really known about her until the release of this book (and her appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett). But thanks to a 'push-through mentality' the world has only ever seen the 'strong' side of Alex Scott.

Now she wants the the world to see her vulnerable side and in her new book How (Not) to Be Strong, Alex shares the lessons that have shaped her.If you are Canadian but currently have an Audible UK membership, you will benefit from transferring your account to Audible Canada.

Really dark place': Alex Scott left in tears as she reflects on struggles with alcohol Alex Scott has emotionally detailed the inspiration behind her new memoir in a tearful interview with The One Show presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book and appreciate her willingness to sacrifice some of her privacy for TRUTH and inspiring others to do the same! This is a passion project and I hope readers enjoy it, but importantly can take their own strength from it. While on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch, Alex candidly opened up about the hardships she had to revisit for the book, including the abuse her mum suffered and her relationship with former teammate Kelly Smith. She represented England in 140 appearances with the Lionesses, retiring as the second most-capped England player across the men's and women's game.Alex talks very deeply and profoundly of her life, where she has struggled emotionally and mentally. Biographies often tread a fine line - there’s already a sort of hubris in writing one, so how to not push it too far and sound too egotistical? The timeline was a bit all over the place, so slightly confusing at times for me, but overall this is a solid 4 stars.
